Abstract
During 2012 NVIDIA made available an extensive set of new HPC architectural features in the company’s fourth generation of GPUs codenamed Kepler. Together with enhancements to the CUDA programming environment, these developments provided new opportunities for application development and performance gains in earth system modeling. This talk will examine the GPU progress of various climate, weather and ocean models, along with a review of their GPU programming procedures. The talk will conclude with a preview of NVIDIA GPU hardware and CUDA software roadmaps relevant to the ESM research and operational communities.
